EARLY HOTEL BOOKING: At the suggestion of a number of classmates, we have arranged a special group rate for the Class of 1963 at the New Haven Courtyard Marriott for the 55th Reunion nights of Thursday, May 31, Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2, 2018. The details of this special group rate are set forth in the e-mail below from Stacey Lisborg, the Sales Manager for the Courtyard Marriott. (This group rate for our Class at the Courtyard Marriott is separate and distinct from the AYA block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott. As discussed in my prior e-mails, the AYA block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott (and four other New Haven hotels) will become available on or about November 1, 2017, and it will be made available to all reunion classes simultaneously, which creates a risk that the rooms in the AYA block may all be taken by the time you are able to request one.) The special group rate for our Class at the Courtyard Marriott – which you can avail yourself of right now – is $299 per night, as opposed to the regular room rate of $369 per night. To reserve a room at this special room rate, just fill out the form linked here, and e-mail the completed form to Stacey Lisborg at stacey.lisborg@interstatehotels.com. The New Haven Hotel says that it has agreed with AYA that it will not offer any group rates for the period of the 55th Reunion, other than the AYA group. On the other hand, they say that reservations can be made now at the New Haven Hotel for the nights of May 31 through June 2, 2018, at a rate of $259 per night. The AYA group rate at the New Haven Hotel is $219 a night, and they say that you can switch your reservation to the AYA rate if you are successful in calling while their AYA rate is available. Reservations can be made at 800-644-6835 or www.newhavenhotel.com. As you can see, the room rate at the Courtyard Marriott is higher than the room rate at the New Haven hotel, even at the special group rate for our Class. On the other hand, the Courtyard Marriott is closer to the most likely residential colleges for our Reunion (Pierson and Branford), and over the years it seems that more classmates have chosen to stay at the Courtyard Marriott than at the New Haven Hotel. As described in my previous e-mails, prepaid room reservations are also available at the New Haven Omni Hotel. Reservations can be made at 203-772-6664 or www.omnihotels.com/hotels/new-haven-yale. So that I can try to assure myself that all classmates who wish hotel accommodations will be able to reserve them, I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE IT IF YOU COULD PLEASE E-MAIL ME TO LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU HAVE MADE A HOTEL RESERVATION AT ANY OF THE NEW HAVEN HOTELS. Thank you very much. Guy |
